|Radio Lollipop is an international children’s charity that provides care, comfort, play and entertainment to children in hospital.
Radio Lollipop gives young patients a voice and a choice during their stay. While they can’t say “no” to taking their medicine or receiving treatments, they can request their favourite songs, win prizes and hear their own voices on the radio.
Over four years, the Perth Arena Golden Ticket raffle has raised over $370,000 to help move Radio Lollipop to the new Perth Children’s Hospital.
Radio Lollipop Director Jeanette Shorto said the charity was overwhelmed by the support received via these campaigns.
“Having just celebrated 30 years of providing care, comfort, play and entertainment to sick children in hospital in Perth, we are so very proud and excited to be part of the future of paediatric health in Western Australia,” Ms Shorto said.
“Earlier this month, we toured the new Perth Children’s Hospital to see our studio and office space under construction."
"Thanks to the generosity of thousands of Western Australians – and the invaluable support of Perth Arena – we have sufficient funding to ensure that these spaces are equipped and fitted out to the best specification in order to continue to entertain the children for the next 30 years."
“Raising the funds for this project was always going to be a challenge and the opportunity to work with Perth Arena has been amazing – they have given Radio Lollipop the ultimate gift and we will be forever grateful,” she said.
